Day 1: Eisleben
On your luther tour on way to the hotel you will stop off in Eisleben to visit the houses where Luther was born on 10 November 1483 and died 62 years later on 18 February 1546. Since 1946 Eisleben proudly bears the official name ‘Lutherstadt’. Continue to your hotel in Dessau-Rosslau.
Day 2: The heart of the Reformation
At the heart of the Reformation. In the winter semester of 1508/09 Luther gave lectures on the teachings of Aristotle in his function as a lecturer for Moral Philosophy and also managed student debates. In 1512 the Faculty of Theology awarded him the title of a Doctor of Philosophy, which included the duty to give up to four sermons a day in the main church – a job Luther did not particularly enjoy. However, not even his 15 reasons against this role as a preacher helped him to avoid the job. His studies in Wittenberg about God’s righteousness led him to post his 95 Theses on the doors of the Schlosskirche in reaction to the sale of indulgences. In a way this was far less dramatic as it first sounds as the doors of the Schlosskirche were used as a public notice board of the university. Nevertheless, the long-term consequences were far more profound than Luther had anticipated and expected and still affect us today. A guided tour of the town will take you around the sights were Luther worked and lived. You will visit Luther’s House – home to the world’s largest museum about the history of the Reformation.
Day 3: Journey home or the continuation of the trip
